Women's Golf Places Three on All-ACC Academic Team

RALEIGH, N.C. - For the second straight year, Brooke Baker of the NC State women's golf team was named to the All-ACC Academic Team as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Also for NC State, Amanda Baker and Brittany Marchand were named to the 23-member team.
During her senior season, Brooke Baker led the Pack in stroke average and top-20 finishes. During the spring, Baker picked up back-to-back top-20 finishes, Sir Pizza Cards Challenge (15th) and the LUS Invitational (11th). Baker majored in management during her Pack career.
Amanda Baker had a strong finish to her sophomore season, as she improved her stroke average as the year went on. Playing in all five spring tournaments, her top finish was 11th place at the LSU Invitational. Baker is majoring in management.
Majoring in engineering, Marchand had one of the top freshman years in school history. Competing in all nine tournaments, Marchand led the Pack in top-10 finishes and earned medalist honors with a first place showing at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic with a 3-under 141.
Marchand recently qualified to play in the 2011 U.S. Women's Open to be held July 7-10, at The Broadmoor East Course in Colorado Springs, Colo.
All nine ACC schools that have women's golf were represented, and NC State's total of three members on the team were second to Duke's five.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average of for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
