Women's Golf Summer Update

RALEIGH, N.C. -
Only a short time into the summer months, members of the NC State women’s golf team has been busy competing in various tournaments, both in the U.S. and in Canada.
Incoming freshman Augusta James and sophomore Brittany Marchand just concluded action on the CN Canadian Tour on Wednesday, a pro event in Beloeil, Quebec. James finished in third place, while Marchand was 36th. James used six birdies during the two rounds and finished with a 1-under 141. Marchand shot a 12-over 154.
James also recently finished second at the Junior Girls CN Future Links Ontario Championship in Huntsville, Ontario. James posted an opening round 5-under 68, and finished at 2-over.
James also qualified to play in the USGA Women’s Public Links Championships in late June, after she earned medalist honors at the qualifier with a 71 in Neshanic Station, N.J. Graduated senior Brooke Baker has also qualified for that tournament to be held in Brandon, Oregon.
A pair of Pack golfers recently had success at the 85th Women’s Carolinas Amateur Golf Championship help in Cornelius, N.C. Redshirt sophomore Caroline Ellington finished second, two strokes out of first finishing at 3-under. Baker tied for ninth.
Away from the course, Ellington is currently in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as part of the College of Textiles study abroad program. A Park Scholar, Ellington is majoring in textile engineering.

Incoming freshman Lindsay McGetrick won the state 4A golf title in Colorado. McGetrick went wire-to-wire, firing a two-round total of 137, 5-under par and won the title by nine strokes. She set a new course record with her 67 in the first round.

Junior Amanda Baker recently finished second at the Nanaimo Amateur.
