GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State will visit Northwestern on Wednesday, Nov. 30, as part of the annual Big Ten/ACC Women's Basketball Challenge. Game times, as well as television and broadband coverage, will be announced at a later date.
NC State owns a 2-2 record in the four previous challenges between the two conferences, including a similar 1-1 slate in road games. Last season the Pack went on the road and disposed of Illinois, 73-67, in Champaign.
The Wolfpack will face Northwestern for just the second time in school history. The first matchup took place all the way back during the very first NCAA Tournament in 1982. The home standing Wolfpack earned a 75-71 victory over the Wildcats in the first round played at Reynolds Coliseum.
Northwestern is coming off a 19-14 season in 2010-11 that saw them finish eighth in the Big Ten with a 6-10 record. The Wildcats earned at at-large bid to the Postseason Women's NIT and advanced to the second round.
Four starters are expected back for NC State, and a highly-touted four-player recruiting class should help the program bounce back from a 14-17 record last season.
