NC State softball completed its regular season this past weekend, April 30 through May 1, taking 2-of-3 games from ACC-foe Virginia. On Saturday, between doubleheader contests, the Wolfpack program took time to celebrate the 2011 senior class. The individual achievements of Alicia Abbott, Alyssa Allbritten, Bridget Desbois and Alyssa Ishibashi were recognized by head coach Lisa Navas and the entire coaching staff. Following the weekend, GoPack.com asked each member of the class to reminisce about her time at NC State, and share her plans for future endeavours.
Allbritten's answers will be the last in the series of four.
Why did you choose NC State?
I chose to go to State because of Coach Navas. I knew she was a great coach and that she was the kind of coach I wanted to play for.
What's the best part of playing in the ACC?
The best part of playing in the ACC is the level of competition and the teams we get to play.
What's your best memory at NC State?
My best memory on the field was me and Allison Presnell hitting back to back homeruns last year to sweep Boston College. My best memory off the field would be in the locker room, it's our second home.
What was your favorite part of senior day? Hardest part?
My favorite part was having all of my family there. Besides my parents, my family doesn't get to see me play a lot so it was good to have them there. Also, having my brothers up here was awesome because they don't ever have time to come up. The hardest part was knowing it was the last game I was going to be playing on our field.
What's your favorite part of traveling? Favorite city to go to?
My favorite part of traveling is the bus trips. There is a lot of movies and card games and laughing. My favorite city would probably be Boston because BC's campus is beautiful and there is a lot of baseball history there.
What advice do you have for your current teammates knowing what you know now?
Play every game like it is your last and have fun while you are doing it because you're not going to be able to play forever. Oh yeah...and be awesome.
Give some advice to incoming freshmen.
Do your part. Tear it up and take advantage of nobody knowing who you are. Don't play like you have time to figure your role out, step on the field and take someone's position, it will only make the team better.
What's your favorite Navasism? Wait for it, wait for it.....
What's your major/what do you want to do with it? Criminology and nothing.
What's your plans for next year?
Next year, I plan to finish up my degree and have fun my last semester in college.
