CORAL GABLES, FLA. --- 36th-ranked NC State women's tennis fell to fifth-ranked Miami Sunday, despite a ranked win from Tatiana Illova and a three-set victory by Chloe Smith.
Illova notched a 6-1. 6-4 win over 109th-ranked Kayla Rizzolo playing in the number four spot, while Smith battled back from a first set loss against Brittany Dubins to triumph 3-6, 6-2, 1-0.
Freshman Joelle Kissell had a ten-match win streak snapped in doubles as she and Ashley Miller dropped an 8-6 decision against Miami's Mills/Dubins team. Kissell's singles streak came to an end later as Gabriela Mejia topped the freshman 6-4, 6-4.
29th-ranked Sanaa Bhambri and 83rd-ranked Sandhya Nagaraj had a difficult afternoon against top level competition. The pair suffered an 8-4 loss to 11th-ranked Bianca Eichkorn and Anna Bartenstein and dropped both of their singles matches against eighth-ranked Eichkorn and 48th-ranked Bartenstein.
The Pack (11-6, 2-5 ACC) face another road trip next weekend as they visit Virginia on April 8 and Virginia Tech on April 11.
