RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's tennis achieved its highest-ever national ranking, placing 26th in the latest ITA National Team Rankings, released Tuesday, April 26.
Sanaa Bhambri and Sandhya Nagaraj each figured prominently in the singles and doubles rankings. The pair ranked 20th in doubles, dropping two spots from a week ago.
Bhambri improved to 24th in the singles rankings, while Nagaraj climbed 14 spots to 80th-nationally.
"I'm very proud of the team, and what they've accomplished already this season," said NC State head coach Hans Olsen. "We're continuing to prepare in the hopes of competing in the NCAA Tournament, but setting the school record this week is quite an achievement."
The Pack bests the previous mark of 28th set last week, and, for the third time this year, eclipses the 31st-place ranking of 2006, which represented the highest in school history heading into 2011.
NC State's 4-0 win over Boston College and 4-3 loss to Duke in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament helped the Pack pick up two spots ahead of the NCAA Tournament. The selection committee will announce berths on Tuesday, May 3 at 5 p.m.
