We have just finished competing in three out of four tournaments of our spring season, and it has gone by extremely fast. Our most recent tournament was our home tournament, and went really well and it felt so good to play at home. It made myself and fellow teammates extremely excited for our home games in the fall.
All three of our tournaments have had ups and downs and provided us with lots of things to work on throughout the week. Each weekend we find new strengths and weaknesses within each of us individually and as a team. These strengths help us gain confidence and grow as a team while our weaknesses allow us to set new goals for the following week in practice and hopefully see improvement in the next tournament.
Something new we have been doing is writing down two goals that we want to work on for that day and keep those goals in mind all practice. This allows us to maintain our focus and really assess ourselves throughout and after practice to see if we met those goals.
Tomorrow we begin our last week of practice for the spring and we will play in Greensboro on the weekend. One goal I think that we all will set for ourselves this week is to it the best week of practice so far this spring. We really want to end on a high note and see all of our hard work pay off in Greensboro. We also have physical testing the following week and I think we are all eager to see how much stronger we have become over the course of the last few months and how many more sprints we will be able to do. I think both our volleyball and strength and conditioning coaches have worked us really hard this spring and we have all enjoyed the challenge on the court and in the weight room.
Overall I think this spring season has been a success and we are starting to really take the right steps to being the team that we want to be. Everything from going in for film two times a week to setting daily goals for practice will help us to improve individually and as a team.
I think one word to describe how we are all feeling right now is "determined". We are determined to get better every day that so come the fall we will be ready to compete and beat any team in the ACC.
