AWENDAW, S.C. – Mitchell Sutton is tied for the lead and No. 19 NC State is tied for seventh after day one at The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Sunday.
Sutton, a sophomore from London, Ontario, is tied with two others at 4-under 67. He had four birdies and zero blemishes on his card today.
The Wolfpack shot a team score of 4-over 288, but is just eight shots out of the lead held by Wake Forest.
Junior Chad Day fired an even-par 71 that featured two birdies and two bogeys to tie for 19th.
Freshman Albin Choi and senior Brandon Detweiler are tied for 45th after shooting 4-over 75.
Junior Mark McMillen is in 66th place after an 8-over 79.
Second round action continues Monday morning from Bulls Bay Colf Club at 9 a.m.
