RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State softball begins Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend at home, hosting Florida State in a three-game series March 19-20 at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium. The teams will meet Saturday in a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m., followed by the series finale on Sunday at noon.
Florida State (13-13) holds the upper hand in the series all-time, having gone 7-12 against the Pack since 2004. NC State, however, took the last matchup against the Seminoles, defeating FSU on April 11, 2010 by a score of 3-1 in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Pack (12-10) is coming off a week where the squad fashioned a 5-1 record, defeating Fairfield, Maine and James Madison in last weekend's Wolfpack Challenge before taking a doubleheader sweep of Elon on Wednesday.
Alyssa Allbritten boasts a .391 batting average with 17 RBI to lead the Pack at the plate. In addition, Bethaney Wells has smashed four homeruns in the 2011 season, a team best.
Junior Morgan Peeler paces NC State in the circle with a 3.67 ERA over 61 innings pitched this season, while freshman Kayla Cox has notched six wins in the campaign.
The Seminoles are led offensively by Jen Lapicki, who owns a .389 mark at the plate and has garnered 16 RBI in 2011. Sarah Hamilton, who sports a 2.33 ERA, has earned six of Florida State's 13 wins this season in the circle.
All of this weekend's action will be available on Gametracker, as well through NC State softball's Twitter account (PackSoftball) found on the front page of GoPack.com.
