
Women's Golf Finishes Ahead of Seven Ranked Teams

The NC State women’s golf team finished ahead of seven ranked teams, and brought home a ninth place finish at the LSU Golf Classic this weekend. In Sunday’s final round, the Pack tallied the third-best team score of the round, and moved into ninth place finishing at 47-over (310-306-295=911).
NC State improved in each round this weekend, culminating with its top score on Sunday of 7-over (295).
In the tournament this weekend, 15 of the 21 teams are ranked in the top-50, with four teams ranked in the top-10. The Pack finished ahead of seven ranked squads, including No. 11 Tulane (seven strokes) and No. 13 North Carolina (17 strokes).
Senior Brooke Baker and sophomore Amanda Baker each finished in 11th place at 7-over (223) for the three rounds.
Brooke Baker was consistent all weekend, shooting a 74 in the first round, a 75 in the second round, and was 2-over (74) on Sunday. In her final round, she holed a team-best three birdies and was 2-under on the back-nine with no holes over par in that group.
Amanda Baker started off strong with a first round even-par (72) on Friday, then posted a 6-over (78) yesterday. She recovered today, shooting a team-best 1-over (73) in the final round on Sunday.
Freshman Ana Menendez fired her top score in Sunday’s final round. She used two birdies and shot a 1-under on the front-nine to shoot a 1-over (73) on Sunday. For the tournament, Menendez finished 37th at 13-over (229).
Freshman Maureen Dunnagan improved 13 strokes from yesterday’s second round, as she shot a 3-over (75) on Sunday and finished at 29-over (245). Freshman Brittany Marchand finished at 35-over (251).
No. 26 Arkansas won the event by seven strokes, finishing at 24-over (888). Lindy Duncan of Duke won medalist honors on the third hole of a playoff, after finishing in a tie atop the leaderboard at 2-over (218).
