RALEIGH, N.C. - The Academic Support Program for Student Athletes honored all of their Fall 2010 Scholar Athletes (3.0 or higher) at halftime of the men's basketball game last night.
The NC State women's golf team had seven honorees including four members from the 2009-2010 ACC Academic Honor Roll. Brooke Baker (Sr), Amanda Baker (So), Caroline Ellington (So) and Hayley Hammond (So) were all named to the 2009-2010 ACC Academic Honor Roll and continued their success in the classroom this fall.
Rounding out the seven for this fall were freshmen Brittany Marchand (Chemical Engineering), Maureen Dunnagan (Sports Management) and Ana Menendez (Mechanical Engineering).
"We are proud of our athletes for being champions on the playing field as well as in the classroom," said head coach Page Marsh.
In addition to being named to the 2009-2010 ACC Academic Honor Roll, Brooke Baker was named to the 2010 ACC All Scholar Team. The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a minimum 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters
The women's golf team opens the spring season in Puerto Rico next week with the defending National Champion, Purdue Boilermakers.
