
Women's Golf Finishes First Tournament of Spring

RIO GRANDE, P.R. - The NC State women's golf team competed in the first tournament of the spring season, coming away in a tie for 17th place at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R. The Wolfpack tied with No. 45 Oklahoma State at 75-over (939) for the three rounds.
Freshman Maureen Dunnagan was the Pack's top golfer after each round. Dunnagan finished at 17-over (233). On Tuesday, she had a team-high three birdies and shot a 1-over on the back-nine.
Sophomore Amanda Baker finished at 19-over (235), one shot ahead of freshman Brittany Marchand with her 20-over (236).
Fellow freshman Ana Menendez finished the tournament at 23-over (239), while redshirt freshman Caroline Ellington was 34-over (250).
No. 1 Alabama led from start to finish, as the Crimson Tide won by five strokes finishing at 11-over (875). Alabama's Stephanie Meadow earned medalist honors, as she finished the three rounds at 4-under (212).
Only three of the 98 golfers competing this week finished under par.
The Wolfpack will return to action February 27-March 1, when NC state travels to Weston, Fla., to compete in the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge.
