RALEIGH, N.C. - For the first time this spring, the NC State women's golf team will be in action when the Pack heads to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, to take part in the 2011 Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The 54-hole format begins with the first round on Sunday, and concludes with the third and final round on Tuesday.
Defending national champion Purdue University will serve as the host of the classic that will be held at the Rio Mar Beach Resort. This year's field will feature 18 teams from around the country, including ACC opponent Florida State.
Five Wolfpack golfers will make the trip to Puerto Rico; sophomore Amanda Baker, redshirt-freshman Caroline Ellington, and freshmen Maureen Dunnagan, Brittany Marchand and Ana Menendez.
During the fall season, NC State competed in four tournaments. The Pack's top finish was when the Pack finished in a tie atop the team leaderboard at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic in Greensboro in late September.
NC State brought home five individual top-20 finishes during the fall season. Marchand brought home medalist honors at the UNCG Starmount, as she finished the two-round event at 2-under (71-70=141).
Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
