2011 NC State Women's Soccer Signing Day Central
RALEIGH, N.C. – Five student-athletes have signed letters of intent to join the NC State women’s soccer squad for the 2011 season, head coach Steve Springthorpe announced today. Four other newcomers enrolled at NC State in January and will go through spring practice with the program.
“I think this class of players we have signed and added this spring semester will make an impact on the team," said Springthorpe. "We were able to address and improve some areas of need within the team by adding these nine players.
"The ACC is such a great conference loaded with players who possess both the highest technical and athletic ability. By adding these nine new players the coaching staff feels like we have increased the overall skill level and athleticism of the team and now will allow us to be more competitive in the conference.
"With the addition of the new players to the current team, I think we have a great mesh of new with the experienced and have now positioned ourselves to make a move in the conference.
"Our current team is working hard and beginning to develop a winning attitude and these talented new player bring that same mentality with them. They all have a desire to see NC State succeed, and because of that, I think they're going to do a lot of great things over the course of the next four years.”
The spring schedule features two home dates in February. The Pack will host Elon and South Carolina on Feb. 19, and will host an alumni game on Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. All games are scheduled for Dail Soccer Field.
