MORGANTOWN, W. Va. --- NC State's Diahanna Ham earned EAGL Rookie of the Week honors for her career-best performance in Gainesville, Fla. on January 28, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Ham guided the Pack to a 48.800 vault showing with a 9.85, good for sixth overall in the tri-meet with the nation's top-ranked Gators and 23-ranked Penn State.
The Boston, Mass. native also recorded a career-high on beam, posting a 9.7 for the meet's seventh-best score and a 11th overall finish. Her floor routine garnered a 9.775 and a share of ninth place.
For Ham, the Rookie of the Week nod marks the first conference honor of her career, and the first of the season for 18th-ranked NC State.
As a freshman, Ham has contributed in all three of the Pack's meets, and quickly solidified herself as one of NC State's most reliable talents, especially vaulting, an event in which she has fared no worse than 9.8 through the first month.
The Pack returns to action Friday, February 4 as they host Iowa State and George Washington, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
(Ed.'s note: This article originally referred to NC State's Feb. 4 meet as a "Pink Meet", but was incorrect. The Wolfpack's "Pink Meet" is scheduled for Feb. 12 against Arizona and William & Mary.)
