RALEIGH, N.C. -- For the second time this season, NC State volleyball player Dariyan Hopper has been named ACC Freshman of the Week for her performance in the last match of the regular season.
The outside hitter from Minooka, Ill., tallied 11 kills and 12.5 points in the Wolfpack’s season-finale, a 3-1 loss to North Carolina in Reynolds Coliseum. It was the 11th time in the Wolfpack’s last 15 contests that Hopper has reached double figures in kills. She had fewer than 10 kills in each of the Pack’s first 18 matches.
It’s the fourth time this season that a Wolfpack player has earned the award. Freshman middle blocker Nicole Glass also won the award twice.
Last week, Hopper was named to the ACC All-Freshman team, the first time since 2003 that a State newcomer has been named to that squad.
The Wolfpack finished the season with a 20-13 overall record and a 8-12 ACC record, setting school records for ACC wins (8), ACC road wins (4) and consecutive wins (13). The Pack also had its most wins since 1996 and its highest ACC finish since 1999.
