Swimming and Diving To Compete in Terp Cup, Nike Cup

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State swimming and diving teams will return to action Thursday, Nov. 17. The Wolfpack swimmers will compete at the Terp Cup in College Park, Md., while the diving team will travel to the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The No. 19 NC State men (5-1, 2-1 ACC) boast nine top-five marks in the conference, including two top times overall. Jonathan Boffa owns the fastest time in the 200 freestyle (1:37.19) while Barrett Miesfeld has the top time in the 100 butterfly (48.74). Brandon Kingston leads the team with three top-five marks to his name, in the 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyle events.
The Wolfpack women (6-2, 1-2 ACC) own seven top-five marks in the ACC. Julianna Prim and Hannah Hopkins each hold two top-five marks: Prim in the 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly, and Hopkins in the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. each day for the Terp Cup, with finals getting started at 6 p.m.
Aside from the NC State divers, the Nike Cup field will be made up of teams from North Carolina, the U.S. Naval Academy, University of South Carolina, Duke University, East Carolina University, Old Dominion, Harvard, James Madison and Drexel.
Hopkins currently owns the top score in the ACC in the women’s one-meter diving event, and the third best mark in the three-meter. Hudson Rains ranks in the top-five in the conference in the three-meter dive.
The women’s platform finals will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, followed by the men’s at 2 p.m. There are no preliminaries for the platform diving event, which will be held at Duke University.
The men’s one-meter diving and the women’s three-meter diving events will be held on Friday, Nov. 18. Preliminaries will begin at 11 a.m., followed by finals at 6:45 p.m. The women’s one-meter and men’s three-meter diving events will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, with preliminaries beginning at 11 a.m. Finals will start at 7:15 p.m.
The Terp Cup will mark the final fall competition for the NC State swim team, but the diving team will compete at the USA Diving National Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., beginning Dec. 15.
