RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State has signed four high school volleyball players to join the Wolfpack for the 2012 season, second-year head coach Bryan Bunn announced on Tuesday.
Bunn’s third recruiting class adds height and skill to the squad, as all four players are taller than 6-feet and have accomplished high school careers. The class also fills the need the Wolfpack will have after next season at setter.
“We’re excited about the size and athleticism of this year's class,” Bunn said. “Just as importantly, they’re good people and great students who help solidify the type of program we are building here.
“This class, coupled with this year's freshmen and sophomores, puts us in a great position to keep improving our finish in the ACC."
This year’s large crop of 11 newcomers has been instrumental in the Wolfpack’s 19-11 overall and 7-10 ACC record, with consistent contributions by a half-dozen freshmen. That’s the most overall wins since 1996 and the most ACC wins in school history. With three matches remaining, Bunn’s team has the opportunity to accomplish more milestones before the season ends.

Next year’s newcomers will have the opportunity to help build on this year’s success.
Morgan Cormier of Carlsbad, Calif., is a well-decorated 6-0 middle blocker who will also look for immediate action for the Wolfpack. She was named to the 2010 Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions all-tournament team and the Nike Tournament of Champions most outstanding player. She’s ranked as the 15th best player in California and the 60th best recruit in the nation by MaxPreps.com.
"Mo is a very fast and dynamic player,” Bunn said. “Look for her to challenge for playing time right away and make an immediate impact on our program"
Hannah Holkum of Edmond, Okla., was an all-city, all-district and all-state selection in 2010 and ‘11. The 6-1 middle blocker will help fill a void left by departing senior Margaret Salata on the front line.
"Hannah will bring athleticism and size to our middle blocker position,” Bunn said. “She gets off the floor very quickly and has a fast arm."
Courtney Reiman of Omaha, Neb., could play at middle blocker or outside hitter. The 6-2 athlete is a three-time all-conference selection.
"Courtney is a player who can help us in more than one position,” Bunn said. “She’s a big blocker and will work on the outside as well as in the middle to see which position she can contribute the most."
Kaitlyn LaMantia of Chantilly, Va., earned first-team all-district, all-region and all-state honors as a senior. The 6-0 setter was on the 2011 Under Armor All-American Watch List.
“Kaitlyn brings good size and a great touch to our setting position,” Bunn said. “She has great location and we look forward to having her here for the next four years to help run our offense."
