Kissell Picks Up Three Wins At Roberta Alison Fall Classic

TUSCALOOSA, ALA. - NC State wrapped up day one of the Roberta Alison Fall Classic at the University of Alabama today. The Pack was led by a strong showing from sophomore Joelle Kissell.
In Flight No. 1, Kissell, seeded second, defeated Ekaterina Iakovleva of Mississippi State, 6-0, 6-1 in the first round. She picked up her second win of the day by defeating Jennifer Pfeifler of Auburn, 6-1, 6-0.
Elisha Hande, the No. 2 seed in Flight No. 2, defeated Paula Alvarez of UAB 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 in the second round of play. Ashley Miller, the No. 1 seed in Flight No. 3, also picked up a second round win by defeating the No. 4 seed Lindsey Mallory of Samford, 6-2, 6-4.
Chloe Smith defeated Linda Game of NW State, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 to pick up a win in Flight No. 4. No. 2 seed Sophie Nelson topped Melanie Jonud of Alabama-Huntsville, 6-0, 6-2, in the second round of Flight No. 7.
Christy Sipes, the No. 1 seed in Flight No. 6, topped Jill Furlong of West Alabama, 6-1, 6-0, in the first round.
In doubles action, Kissell and Nelson, seeded first in Flight No. 2, defeated Isa Fernandez and Caroline Faught of UAB, 9-8 (4).
