No. 57 Men's Tennis Sweeps UNCW, 7-0

No. 57 NC State grabbed it second shutout win of the day and moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 7-0 decision over UNC Wilmington. The Pack swept all six singles bouts after claiming two of three doubles tilts.
The Seahawks slide even at 1-1 with the loss.
The Pack took an early 1-0 lead by grinding out a hard-fought doubles point. Jaime Pulgar and Dave Thomson bowled over Rafael Aita and Michael Pereira rather easily at No. 2, 8-2, but the other two spots were both tightly contested. Dominic Hodgson and Julian Sullivan eventually outpaced Chris Cooprider and Pedro Mol, 8-6, at No. 1 to clinch the point, while David Chermak and Will Rollinson stumbled against Kosta Blank and Illia Ziamtsou, 8-6, at No. 3.
No. 106 Thomson quickly dismissed Aita, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3, while No. 82 Hodgson dropped Blank, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2. No. 61 Pulgar lost the opening frame for the second time on the day only to come back with authority and grab the decision, downing Pereira, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1.
Rafael Paez outlasted Cooprider, 6-3, 7-6 (3) at No. 4, Sullivan blasted past Ziamtsou, 6
3, 6-3, at No. 5, and Ivan Sanchez Gomez completed the sweep at No. 6 with a win over Alex Wetherell, 6-0, 6-4.
NC State will hit the road next weekend for matches at No. 13 Louisville and No. 46 Indiana.
