Volleyball Sweeps Arkansas State

Volleyball moves to 5-0 after a three set sweep of Arkansas State in the Indiana Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 4. The Wolfpack now holds a 2-0 record versus the Red Wolves.
For the second match in a row, Becah Fogle paced the Pack in kills, scoring 17 while hitting at a .517 clip. She also added two assisted blocks, three digs and one assist to her totals for the match. Luciana Shafer also scored in double-digit kills, earning ten to go along with one service ace and eight digs. Freshman Brie Merriwether contributed seven kills to the team total of 48, her season-high.
Megan Cyr lifted 35 assists, leading the squad for the fifth time in the 2010 season. She also paced the Pack in digs on the match, earning 12. Senior Alex Smith scored three service aces in the match, her highest total this season.
The Wolfpack dominated the first set, winning by a score of 25-10. The second set proved to be more of the challenge, but the Pack still handily won 25-21. NC State took the final set of the match 25-18.
NC State will return to action tonight to take on tournament host Indiana at 7:30 p.m., the first meeting between the two programs. The Hoosiers bring a 4-0 record into the contest.
