
Women's Golf Tied for Lead after First Round

GREENSBORO, N.C. - After first round action at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic, the NC State women's golf team is tied for the team lead, while freshman Brittany Marchand is just one stroke off the individual lead in second place.
NC State is currently tied for first with ACC foe Maryland, as both teams shot a 14-over (302) in first round action at the Bryan Park Players Course in Greensboro, N.C., on Sunday in the 15-team field. The Pack was led by the performance of its three freshmen, as all three are in the top 20 after the first round.
Marchand led the way for the Pack in the first round, as she shot a one-under (71), and sits in second place one shot behind Stetson's Alex Buelow. In her first round, Marchand had three birdies and only one hole over par for the round. She was consistent all day, shooting an even-par on the front-nine, and one-under on the back-nine.
Freshman Ana Menendez is currently in eighth place, after she shot a two-over (74) on Sunday. Menendez had a team-high four birdies, and was even-par on the front-nine with birdies on No. 1 and No. 2.
Fellow freshman Maureen Dunnagan also had a strong round, as she is in 17th place after a round of five-over (77).
Senior Brooke Baker finished the round at eight-over (80), while sophomore Haley Hammond was 10-over (82).
The second round will be played tomorrow, with the final round being held Tuesday.
