NC State opened Atlantic Coast Conference play Thursday night with a crucial 1-0 victory at Clemson.
Junior Tanya Cain scored her third game winner of the year in the 70th minute to send the Wolfpack to victory.
The win marked the Pack’s third consecutive 1-0 victory. It also gave the club its seventh shutout win of the season in 10 games.
Junior keeper Kim Kern made seven saves to earn her third-straight shutout and fourth of the season.
Playing its second-straight road match, NC State finished with a 25-12 shot advantage in the game.
NC State is ranked nationally in four different statistical categories - 12th in shutout percentage (0.667), 18th in scoring offense (2.67 goals per game), 21st in goals-against-average (0.553) and 26th in save percentage (0.872).
Junior Kristina Argiroff, freshman Jennie Krauser and Cain are all tied for the team lead in scoring with 12 points (four goals, four assists) each.
Blosser and senior Nadia Aboulhosn have each chipped in with three goals and seven points apiece.
Kern has started all 10 matches and owns a 0.55 goals-against-average, the fourth best mark in the ACC and 37th nationally. The Raleigh, N.C., native also ranks fourth in the league in save percentage (.872) and tied for second in shutouts (4.0).
Scouting Boston College
The Eagles, ranked No. 4 nationally, are coming off a 3-2 win over No. 1 North Carolina on Thursday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Boston College sophomore Victoria DiMartino scored in the 75th minute to give Boston College its first victory over UNC in 12 games, and improved to 8-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the ACC.
DiMartino tops the ACC with 23 points and nine goals scored. Kristie Mewis has 18 total points with five goals and a league-topping eight assists.
Keeper Jill Mastroianni sits third in the ACC with a 0.45 goals-against-average with four shutouts.
Last Meeting
No. 6 Boston College scored two second-half goals to secure a 2-1 win over visiting NC State. Paige Dugal scored the game-tying goal at the 65:18 mark of the second half. DiMartino scored six minutes later to give the Eagles the victory.
