Women's Soccer Opens ACC Play At Clemson

Coming off back-to-back 1-0 victories, NC State opens Atlantic Coast Conference play Thursday night with a crucial match at Clemson at Riggs Field.
The Wolfpack posted a 6-3 record in the non-conference season. Last time out the club recorded its sixth shutout of the year with a 1-0 win at Old Dominion last Friday. Sophomore midfielder Kara Blosser found the back of the net in the 22nd minute, and keeper Kim Kern pushed aside nine saves to keep the clean sheet in tact.
NC State is ranked nationally in four different statistical categories - 12th in shutout percentage (0.667), 18th in scoring offense (2.67 goals per game), 21st in goals-against-average (0.553) and 26th in save percentage (0.872).
Junior Kristina Argiroff and freshman Jennie Krauser lead the club in scoring with 12 points (four goals, four assists) each.
Junior Tanya Cain has also dished out four helpers this season, tying Krauser for the team lead, and also has three goals for 10 total points.
Blosser and senior Nadia Aboulhosn have each chipped in with three goals and seven points apiece.
Kern has started all nine matches and owns a 0.62 goals-against-average, the fifth best mark in the ACC and 37th nationally. The Raleigh, N.C., native also ranks fifth in the league in save percentage (.844) and shutouts (3.0).
Scouting Clemson
The Tigers have dropped consecutive matches to Big South members High Point and Coastal Carolina, and enter the ACC opener with a 5-3 overall mark.
Maddy Elder leads Clemson in scoring with 13 points with five goals and three assists. Jackie Dutton and Hailey Karg have each scored twice for the Tigers.
Keeper Lauren Arnold has started all eight matches, and has compiled a 1.15 GAA with 36 saves.
Last Meeting
NC State picked up a 2-1 win at home over Clemson last season when Blosser scored both goals in the second half to post the victory.
