RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State volleyball will travel to Bloomington, Ind. this weekend to compete in the Indiana Tournament. The Pack is coming off of a perfect opening weekend, which marks the first time since 1995 NC State has started a season 3-0.
Lead by reigning ACC Co-Player of the Week Alex Smith, the Wolfpack take on Illinois State Friday Sept. 3, at 5 p.m. Much like the Pack, the Redbirds (4-0) enter the tournament on a hot streak, having defeated Portland, Oregon State and Sacramento State in the Corvallis Invitational last weekend.
In Saturday's action, the Wolfpack battle Arkansas State at 10 a.m., then match up against the home team Indiana Hoosiers at 7:30 p.m. This marks the first meeting between the NC State and Indiana.
Last weekend, NC State swept all three matches, defeating Eastern Kentucky, Coppin State and Western Carolina, each in three sets.
Alex Smith scored a team-high 30 kills, while Margaret Salata contributed 27 of her own. Megan Cyr lifted 109 assists and libero Kelly Wood recorded 36 digs to pace the Pack defensively.
NC State's home schedule begins Friday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. versus Georgia Southern in the NC State Tournament.
