Volleyball Falls to Campbell in Wilmington

NC State fell 3-1 to Campbell at the UNCW Hilton Garden Inn Beach Bash in Wilmington, N.C. Saturday, snapping a four-match win streak.
Campbell outscored the Wolfpack 25-22, 22-25, 27-25, 25-14 to turn NC State away, dropping their record to 9-2 on the season. Campbell improves to 4-10 with the win.
Senior Alex Smith led the offensive attack with a team-high 15 kills. Becah Fogle and Margaret Salata finished the match with nine kills each.
Junior Kelly Wood played an important role on defense, tallying 10 digs. Smith came away with nine digs to go along with her team-leading kill total.
Megan Cyr led the team in assists with 38 on the day alongside eight digs for the Wolfpack.
Teams exchanged 25-22 victories in the first two sets, before NC State played their best volleyball of the day during what would ultimately be a losing effort in the third set.
In the third, the Wolfpack tallied 18 kills and hit their best percentage of the match, .229, before falling 27-25.
Campbell would take the fourth set 25-14 to seal the match.
NC State will have a chance to bounce back at 4:30 Saturday afternoon as they play Elon in their tournament finale, and last non-conference game of the year.
