Pack Effort Falls Short Against #5 Maryland

NC State dropped a 3-1 decision Saturday to nationally fifth-ranked Maryland Saturday in College Park, Md. to move to 2-3 (0-2 ACC) on the year.
Senior Chris Zuerner scored the lone goal for the Wolfpack in the 79th minute. The goal is the second on the season for Zuerner, tying him for the team lead.
Maryland opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a Jason Herrick goal off of a Terrapin rebound .
One minute later, Maryland added to their lead with a second goal on a header during a corner kick in the 29th minute.
In the second half, Maryland increased their lead to 3-0 in the 52nd minute off of another corner kick header.
NC State managed eight shots on the outing, registering three on goal. Maryland outshot the Pack 16-8.
Will Mackvick played the full 90 minutes in goal, picking up six saves.
Next, the Pack will return home to host Presbyterian on Wednesday, September 22 at 7 p.m.
