Hill Breaks Record at USA Track Championships

NC State’s Ryan Hill broke his own school record in the 1500 meters Friday evening, posting a time of 3:40.22 to finish eighth in the preliminaries at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. The Hickory native qualified for the finals, which will be run tomorrow evening.
Earlier this outdoor season, Hill broke the standing NC State record in the event with a time of 3:40.81.
Freshman Erin Mercer qualified for the finals of the women’s 1500 meter run in the junior division with a time of 4:35.58, finishing seventh in the preliminaries. She will also compete on Saturday evening.
Ben Major, a freshman from Fayetteville, N.C., finished 12th in the qualifying round of the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.75.
