Greetings from Ireland - Day 2
5/18/2010 12:00:00 AM | Pack Athletics
We are into our third day in Killarney and still have yet to see more than a couple drops of rain since arriving in Ireland. The 15 or so golfers were on the bus bright and early this morning for the drive to Ballybunion to play at the Old Links Course. Once again we were starting to worry that they had perhaps lost their way home but, once again, they managed to arrive in time for dinner! They reported that they all had great rounds but I think maybe they were not entirely truthful and the course may have been the real winner. Kudos to Helen Snyder, the lone female golfer. We non-golfers toured Muckross House and Gardens. This Victorian estate is located in Killarney National Park and has extensive gardens (with what looked to be the largest rhododendrons in existence, many of which are in full bloom) and three working farms. The house overlooks the Lakes of Killarney and and has fantastic views of Macgillycuddy's Reeks (mountains). Following the tour we were treated to a delicious lunch at Molly D'arcy's and several members of the group spent part of the afternoon shopping in Killarney. Tomorrow we all head up the coast of County Clare to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren and then over to Dublin. As we arrive fairly late we may have to wait til Wednesday til the next update.
