RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State junior Matt Hill has received a sponsor’s exemption to compete at the 2010 AT&T National, July 1-4 at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa. After winning the 2009 NCAA Individual Championship, Hill competed in his first three PGA Tour events last summer.
The AT&T National marks the second straight year Hill has earned an exemption into the PGA TOUR event. Hill made the cut in his first PGA event last summer, as he shot 10-over (71-69-75-75—290) to finish T-70th at the 2009 AT&T National won by Tiger Woods.
In 2010, Hill was once again named All-ACC, and finished third at the ACC Championships. He also earned medalist honors at the Hootie at Bull’s Bay Intercollegiate, extending his school record to 10 career event titles.
Hill and his Wolfpack teammates tee-off at the NCAA Men’s Golf Central Regional Championships May 20-22 at The Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, IN. NC State is the sixth seed, as the top five teams and the top individual finisher not on those advances teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Official practice rounds for the 2010 AT&T National begin Tuesday, June 29 and first round action begins Thursday, July 1. A full field listing, tee times and scoring will be available online at www.pgatour.com/tournaments/r471.
