Men's Soccer Graduates Five from 2009 Team

RALEIGH, N.C. – A total of five players from the 2009 men’s soccer team will be taking part in NC State’s graduation ceremony this weekend. Two of those players will leave this weekend with their master’s degrees as well.
Christopher Widman earned a master’s degree in economics and Federico Nachmann earned a master’s degree in park, recreation and tourism. Widman has already moved to Charlotte where he is working for Bank of America, while Nachmann is currently pursuing job opportunities in sports marketing in Raleigh.
Chris Franczkowski, Romulo Manzano and Alan Sanchez will all be earning their undergrad degrees this weekend. Franczkowski majored in business administration with a concentration in marketing, Manzano majored in computer science, and Sanchez in soprts management. Franczkowski has moved to Dallas for a job with GE Healthcare, while Manzano works in RTP at Credit Suisse. Sanchez is currently playing professionally for the Real Maryland Monarchs of USL2.
Another member of last year’s team will finish up his degree this summer. Redshirt sophomore Kris Byrd will earn his degree in business administration with a concentration in finance in just over three years.
In March, Manzano was awarded a ACC Postgraduate Scholarship, while Byrd and Widman each were named to the 2009 All-ACC Academic team after the season.
The five players helped the Pack to a No. 23 final ranking this past season. The Pack advanced to the ACC Tournament championship game, then to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
