RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State head coach Steve Springthorpe announced today the 2010 Wolfpack women's soccer schedule. The 19-game regular season schedule features 10 opponents that appeared in the NCAA Championship tournament in 2009.
All but two of those 10 clubs hail from the ACC - with the two others being reigning Big South champ High Point and the defending America East champ, Loyola (Md.).
Springthorpe's second year at NC State gets underway with an exhibition against in-state foe Appalachian State (Aug. 14).
The non-conference season begins in earnest the following weekend with the first of six straight home dates to begin the 2010 campaign - starting with Texas (Aug. 20).
The Longhorns are followed by Coastal Carolina (Aug. 23), High Point (Aug. 27), Charlotte (Aug. 29), Pittsburgh (Sept. 3) and Loyola (Sept. 5).
The Wolfpack head to Greenville to face East Carolina (Sept. 10), before returning home to host its final non-league home tilt against Florida International (Sept. 12).
The final tuneup before ACC play sends the Pack to Norfolk, Va., to take on Old Dominion (Sept. 17).
NC State opens its league slate on the road at Clemson (Sept. 23), then return to Raleigh to host Boston College (Sept. 26) and North Carolina (Oct. 1).
After a road date at Wake Forest (Oct. 7), the Wolfpack hosts its final three home games against Maryland (Oct. 10), Miami (Oct. 14) and Florida State (Oct. 17).
The schedule rounds out with road games at Duke (Oct. 24), at Virginia (Oct. 28) and at Virginia Tech (Oct. 28).
The ACC Championship takes place Nov. 3-7 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
