W. Tennis Earns No. 8 Seed at ACC Tournament

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team has earned the No. 8 seed at the ACC Tournament, which runs from April 22-25 at the Cary Tennis Park. The Wolfpack will be taking on No. 9 seed Wake Forest on Thursday, April 22 at 9:00 a.m. At the same time men's tennis will be taking on Miami.
NC State and Wake Forest met earlier in the year, with the Wolfpack winning 5-2. The Pack took the doubles point and four of the six singles matches to earn the victory.
The Pack come into the ACC Tournament on a hot streak, with three straight wins which has earned them a No. 37 national ranking.
No. 69 Sandhya Nagaraj has been steady at the No. 1 singles spot all season. She has gone 12-9 in the spring with four wins against ranked foes. Senior Berkeley Brock has come on strong as of late, winning her last four matches. Brock is 11-9 this spring, and her 47 careers spring wins is tied for fourth all-time at NC State. Lenka Hojckova is 11-9 as well. Senior Daria Petrovic has battled throughout the year to earn a 9-9 record. Freshmen Tana Illova and Chloe Smith have been solid at the back-end of the lineup with Illova going 10-7 and Smith going 7-9.
In doubles, the Pack has shuffled its lineup throughout the season. Lately the lineup has been Nagaraj and Petrovic at No. 1 doubles, Hojckova and Illova at No. 2 doubles, and Brock and Smith at No. 3 doubles.
The winner of the first round match will advance to the quarterfinal round to take on No. 1 North Carolina on Friday, April 23 at 9:00 a.m. Tickets for the event are $14 for adults and $10 for students and youth for the complete championship and $7 for adults and $5 for students and youth for single day admission.
