RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State softball will take off to Wilmington for a doubleheader at UNCW this coming Wednesday, April 21. Action will start at 4 p.m. at Boseman Field.
The doubleheader will mark the first meeting between the two programs since 2005. NC State trails in the all-time series, 1-3.
The Wolfpack (25-21) picked up a win this past weekend in ACC action at Virginia. Stephanie Call gave two solid pitching performances in the circle over the weekend, picking up one win and allowing just five hits and one earned run in 13 innings. Call, who fanned six and only issued two walks, also contributed three hits, one long ball and three RBIs on the offensive end. Landon Warren supplied four hits, while Alyssa Allbritten drove in three runs.
UNCW (8-31) topped Delaware 9-5 on Sunday, snapping a six-game skid. The Seahawks will take on East Carolina in Greenville on Tuesday before facing the Wolfpack.
Morgan Walters has served as the main catalyst for the UNCW offense, leading the team in batting average (.362) and hits (42), while Katie Houmard’s 16 RBIs is a team high. As a team the Seahawks have only stolen 14 bases, with Kelsey Eddinger swiping six in as many chances.
Four hurlers have worked in the circle for the Seahawks, combing for a 4.16 ERA. Samme Lisowsky (3-14) has far and away seen the most action, tossing 108 1/3 innings for a 3.36 ERA.
Following Wednesday’s action the Wolfpack will return to conference play over the weekend, hosting Maryland for a three game series at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium.
