NC State's Ryan Hill, a redshirt freshman in track eligibility, won the ACC title tonight in the 10,000 meter run at the outdoor conference championship meet in Clemson, S.C. Hill clocked in at 29:32.28, the ninth-fastest time in school history.
The race capped a record-setting week for the Hickory native, as he was named the ACC's Outdoor Performer of the Week on Monday and posted the nation's fastest time for 2010 in the 1500 meter run last Saturday at a meet in Chapel Hill. His time of 3:40.81 also set a new NC State record, breaking a mark that had stood since 1972.
Hill was a cross country All-American for the Wolfpack in 2009 and the ACC Rookie of the Year for that sport in 2008 , but did not compete in track last year as he was competing in the US Junior World Cross Country Championships.
