NC State Plays No. 2: The No. 42 Wolfpack travel down the road to Chapel Hill to take on No. 1 North Carolina on Thursday, March 4 at 2:30 p.m.
The Series Against UNC: This match between the two rivals will be the 39th meeting in history, which is the third longest running series for NC State. The two met last year in Raleigh, with the Wolfpack losing 7-0. The Wolfpack last beat the Tar Heels in 1998, winning 6-3.
Pack Upends FIU: The Wolfpack came out on top 4-3 over No. 41 FIU on Feb. 27. With the help of winning the doubles point, the Pack won three of the six singles matches to earn the victory. Freshman Chloe Smith had the match clinching win against Magali Holt. Sandhya Nagaraj beat No. 110 Liset Brtio, which was her second ranked opponent win on the year.
The Doulbes Point Matters: In college tennis, winning the doubles point goes a long way toward winning the match. For NC State it is no different. The Wolfpack are 4-0 when the doubles point was won.
Wolfpack Moving Up Rankings: The latest ITA rankings that came out on March 2 moved NC State up 20 spots to No. 42. Previously the Pack were ranked No. 62 before beating No. 41 FIU. With a 3-1 start to the season, NC State entered the ITA team rankings at No. 64 on Feb. 18.
Nagaraj Enters Spring Ranked: After a successful fall campaign where she went 11-4, Sandhya Nagaraj began the spring season ranked No. 45 in the country by ITA. Nagaraj, who’s a sophomore, was not eligible last year due to NCAA rules. After moving down to No. 107, Nagaraj has moved back up to No. 51 in the rankings.
