Five Gymnasts Earn All-EAGL Honors

DURHAM, N.H. - Five NC State gymnasts earned All-EAGL honors for their performances throughout the regular season, as announced by the league office at its annual banquet Friday night. Seniors Taylor Seaman, junior Brittany Vontz, sophomores Brooke Barr and Jess Panza and freshman Rachel Fincham all earned league honors.
NC State led EAGL with 13 total selections to the first and second-team for all of the events, and tied for the league high with six first-team selections.
Seaman had four EAGL honors, including three first-team selections. She was first-team All-EAGL on bars (led the conference), floor and the all-around. She also earned second-team All-EAGL honors on beam. It was the third straight year that Seaman earned first-team honors on floor and bars and she was also named first-team in the all-around for the third time in four years, missing out only as a sophomore in 2008.
For her career, Seaman has now earned 14 first or second team selections in her career and is the Wolfpack career leader with 16 scores of 39.000 or higher in the all-around.
Barr also had four selections to All-EAGL teams, including a first-team selection on vault. She was also second-team on beam, floor and the all-around. Barr was named first-team All-EAGL on vault and floor as a freshman in 2009, already giving her six career selections.
Panza earned three selections, including a first-team All-EAGL mention on beam. She was second team on floor and the all-around. It marked the second-straight year that Panza was first team All-EAGL on beam and she was second team on vault as a freshman in 2009.
Vontz was second team All-EAGL on bars for the third time in three seasons..
Fincham earned first-team All-EAGL honors on bars after finishing the season ranked No. 2 in the league on the event.
The All-EAGL first team honors were awarded to the top six athletes (including ties) based on the seasonal average. All-EAGL second team honors were determined by a vote of the coaches.
NC State will look to defend its 2009 EAGL Championship title on Saturday night as New Hampshire hosts the 2010 meet. The Wolfpack has won two of the last three EAGL Championships and is second all-time with four EAGL titles.
