Softball, UNC Greensboro to Battle on Thursday

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team will play two games at UNC Greensboro on Thursday, March 25, beginning at 3 p.m. Live stats will be available via GoPack.com.
The Wolfpack (17-13 / 1-2 ACC), took one of three games from Virginia Tech this past weekend at home in its ACC-opening series. Stephanie Call hit .385 across five games last week, with five hits, a double and a home run. Toni Ann Williford batted .364, including two hits and an RBI in a 4-2 win over the Hokies this past Sunday. Lindsay Campana struck out 22 batters in three appearances, picking up the win against VT.
UNC Greensboro (10-14) will host Marshall for two games on Wednesday before the Pack comes to town. Alex Emeterio is batting .338, leading the team with 25 hits and 17 RBIs, while Laura Olenderski is hitting at a .333 clip. Brittany Ausley and Jordan Jewett have both scored 10 runs each, while Emeterio and Katie Stripling both have three long balls.
The Spartans have used three hurlers thus far into the year, combining for a 3.23 ERA. Cory Mattson (6-6, 2.42 ERA) has tossed 69.1 innings to lead the rotation, while Amber Harrell (2-7, 4.20 ERA) has worked 66.2. Raeanne Hanks (2-1, 3.18 ERA) has pitched 33 frames, primarily in relief.
The Pack leads the all-time series 8-1, having won the last five meetings. The two programs did not meet on the diamond during the 2009 campaign.
NC State will resume ACC play this weekend with a three-game series at North Carolina in nearby Chapel Hill.
