Three Win Events on Final Day of 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Three NC State men's track and field athletes won their respective events on Saturday in the final day's action at the 49er Classic to kick off the season. A'Tolani Akinkuotu (100m), Kris Kornegay-Gober (high jump) and Jason Jones (shot put) were victorious for the Wolfpack as it kicked off the outdoor season.
Akinkuotu continues to impress in his senior season, winning the 100m dash with a time of 10.50.
Kornegay-Gober took the high jump title with a jump of 6'08.75".
Jones won the shot put title with a mark of 59'10.50", a new career-high mark.
In other results, Miles Walker (4th, 48.62) and Shawn Murray (7th, 49.13) ran in the 400m finals.
Both relays for the Pack - the 4x100m and the 4x400m - finished second.
NC State will host the annual adidas Raleigh Relays on Friday and Saturday, March 26-27, at Derr Track on NC State's campus. Admission is free, so make sure you come out and support the Pack at their only home meet of the year.
