Gymnastics Posts Best Score Since 2004

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State gymnastics (11-5) scored a season-high 196.150 to win the meet against William & Mary on Friday on Senior Night. NC State won each of the four events and scored its highest team score since the EAGL Championship meet in 2004.
Individually, NC State gymnasts won each event, with senior Taylor Seaman winning beam, floor and the all-around. Her all-around score of 39.475 was the fourth-highest score in school history. It was also her 16th score of 39.000 or higher in the all-around, a new school record.
The team started on vault and scored a strong 48.950 to win the event head-to-head with the Tribe. NC State gymnasts held a three-way tie for first on the event, with Vontz, Seaman and Barr each scored a 9.8. In fact, all six Wolfpack competitors finished ahead of the highest William & Mary vaulter.
On bars, NC State scored a season-high with a 49.000, led by Fincham's career-high tying 9.875. Seaman was second with a 9.8 and Panza was third with a 9.825.
NC State led 97.950 - 95.425 at the midweek point of the meet, with just beam and floor left on the schedule.
Beam turned out its best performance of the year, scoring a 49.975 with strong performances from Panza (9.875), Seaman (9.875) and Vontz (9.850). Seaman and Panza tied for first on the event, with Vontz finishing third.
Heading into the final event for the Pack - floor - the Red and White held a commanding 146.925 - 143.225 lead and would stretch that for the final margin with a 49.225 on floor, the best score of the season on the event.
Becca Teich got things started with a 9.8 on floor, and Panza followed two routines later with a 9.850. Barr scored a 9.925, before Seaman scored a career-high tying 9.950 to chants of "10, 10" from the crowd. Seaman, Barr and Panza finished 1-2-3 on floor, and Teich and Fincham were fourth and fifth.
Seaman's all-around score of 39.475 was the fourth-highest in school history and Panza had a career-high and the 20th-best score in school history with a 39.325.
