Softball to Play Two at Charlotte on Thursday

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State softball will make the relatively short trip to Charlotte for a doubleheader with the 49ers tomorrow, Thursday, March 18. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m., with the second game to follow immediately after. Live stats will be available via GoPack.com
NC State leads the all-time series 8-2, including six-straight dating back to April of 2006.
The Wolfpack (16-9) is riding a four-game winning streak, bolstered by a 3-0 showing at the Winthrop/adidas Invitational this past weekend in Rock Hill, S.C. Stephanie Call hit .455 with five hits, three RBIs, a double and a home run in Rock Hill, while Kristine Bechtholdt batted .444 with a hit in every tournament game. Landon Warren and Breanna Andrews both enjoyed multiple-home run games.
Lindsay Campana picked up two wins, allowing just one earned run while fanning 26 batters. Call earned a win as well.
Charlotte stands at 14-3, with a loss to Boston and two to San Jose State. The 49ers have won seven of its last 10 games, including a doubleheader sweep at Gardner Webb this past Tuesday. Four Charlotte players are batting over .300, including Whitney Williams (.382), Serena Smith (.340), Tenaya Tucker (.327) and Kendra McCall (.327). Smith (17), Tucker (13) and Natalyn Blanton (11) all have double-digit RBI totals, and Williams’ 21 hits leads the squad.
Emily Jeffery (9-2), Katy Hackett (5-1) and Gina Allen (0-0) form the Charlotte pitching staff. The trio has combined for a 1.44 ERA, with Jeffery’s 0.90 ERA leading the way.
NC State will open the conference portion of its schedule this weekend against Virginia Tech at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium.
