Charleston, S.C. - In a match that was shortened due to weather and time constraints, the No. 40 NC State women's tennis team upset No. 28 Princeton 4-1. The Wolfpack took the doubles point and three of four singles matches before it was decided.
The Pack got off to a good start in doubles. Lenka Hojckova and Tana Illova beat Monica Chow and Rachel Saointz 8-1. Diana Mortlock and Daria Petrovic gave the Pack the doubles point with a 9-7 win over Sarah Hoffman and Melissa Saiontz. No. 42 Berkeley Brock and Sandhya Nagaraj were leading No. 19 Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable 7-4 before the match was called due to the Pack already winning doubles.
In singles, No. 64 Nagaraj took care of No. 81 Bartlett, 6-0 6-2. Brock got her second win of the week with a 6-3, 6-1 victory against R. Saiontz. Illova beat Blakely Ashley in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Petrovic suffered a 6-3, 6-1 loss to Marable.
The last two matches did not finish due to the Pack already recording the win. Hojckova had spit the two sets 6-2, 4-6 with M. Saiontz. Chloe Smith had won the first set 6-3 over Hoffman, and was tied 3-3 in the second set.
The Wolfpack moves to 7-4 on the year. The Pack finishes its road trip tomorrow when facing Winthrop at noon. The matchup had been postponed from a snow storm back in January.
