Inside the Chalk Box: Many Options with the Lineup

Assistant coach Todd Henry checks in with a report from the gym on "Inside the Chalk Box!"
If slow and steady wins the race, then we are on our way to a great year! State is ranked #23 in the polls! Our kids have been solid and mentally tough. If we have a break in a routine, our young ladies have kept their heads up and pushed forward. Way to go Pack!
For the first time in many years we have the ability to switch the line up. The coaching staff is still looking for the right mix of skills and leadership on each event. Vault continues to be a difficult question. We certainly have good vaulters but our scores are not where we want them. Taylor Seaman was taken out of the vault rotation for the first time in her career the last two meets. I felt like we needed to take a step back in order to go forward. She has handled the situation with great maturity.
Bars has easily been our most consistent event and ranked 19th in the country. Floor seems to be finding a nice grove and will continue to move up. We are currently number 21 in this weeks poll. Balance beam has really been a highlight so far. With vault struggling, our beam team has stepped up to really help out.
Our goal is to be in the top 18 nationally as a team and we are making excellent strides in that direction. We have had great crowds for our two home meets, around 2,500 for both contest! I know I can speak for everyone on the team in saying how much we appreciate the fan support.
We travel to the DC area this weekend for a meet against George Washington. I hear that area may get more snow!!!
Until next time...
