RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women’s soccer coach Steve Springthorpe announced the signing of nine high school seniors to enroll at NC State and play for the Wolfpack this fall.
The Pack received letters of intent from Victoria Hopkins (Fayetteville, Ga.), Jennie Krauser (Irvine, Calif.), Karri Owens (Raleigh, N.C.), Morgan Phipps (Winston-Salem N.C.), Claudel Pilon (Raleigh, N.C.), Ariela Schreibeis (Laramie, Wyo.), Kaley Shlaes (Shaker Heights, Ohio), Stacey Smith (Austin, Texas) and Lauren Woodson (Richardson, Texas).
“What a fantastic time for NC State Women’s Soccer,” said Springthorpe. “We are excited to add nine new players to our program for the 2010 season. These nine young ladies will make an immediate impact on our program.
“As a new coaching staff taking over this program last January we worked very hard finding players that we felt could help us improve and move in a positive direction in a short period of time. This class of 2010 will have the opportunity to help the returning players achieve many of our future goals.
“Associate Head Coach Chris Shaw and Assistant Coach Dena Floyd have done a great job of identifying many players in this class and have left their fingerprint on it. I want to thank them for their hard work.
“In this class we have been able to bring in players who I feel can play many different positions on the field. Outside of goalkeeper Victoria Hopkins, the positional versatility of these players is wide ranging. Most, if not all, will have the ability to play both an attacking role and on the defensive side of the field. I am excited to see them lace up their boots in the fall and start finding their place on the field.”
