RALEIGH, N.C. - No. 22 NC State gymnastics will host No 3 Florida on Friday night at 7:00pm at Reynolds Coliseum. The meet was going to be a tri-meet with Wolfpack EAGL foe George Washington, but the Colonials couldn't make the trip due to a severe winter storm hitting the District.
One week after facing No. 2 Oklahoma, the Wolfpack will take on the third-ranked Gators, as Mark Stevenson's team continues to take on the top squads year after year.
Sophomore Jess Panza earned her first EAGL Gymnast of the Week honor after winning the all-around against the No. 2 Sooners, scoring a career-best 39.200 in only her fourth time competing in all four events. She ranks 49th nationally in the all-around, and fifth in the all-around in the event. She is also fifth in EAGL on bars and beam.
Sophomore Brooke Barr earned EAGL Specialist of the Week honors for the first time in her career, posting a pair of 9.9s, on vault and floor. She also scored a 9.65 on bars. She is ranked 13th nationally on both floor and vault, and is 27th in the all-around. She leads EAGL on floor and vault and is second in the all-around.
Senior Taylor Seaman ranks 39th nationally on floor and 42nd on bars. She also leads EAGL on bars and is fourth on beam, eighth on floor and sixth on the all-around.
Junior Brittany Vontz competed in her first meet of the season last week after recovering from an injury, and scored a 9.8 on bars. She ranks second on bars in EAGL and 42nd nationally.
Freshman Rachel Fincham is fourth on bars in EAGL and scored a 9.825 against No. 2 Oklahoma, and also posted a 9.725 on vault.
