#24 Gymnastics Tames Pitt Panthers, 194.950-191.900

RALEIGH, N.C. - No. 24 NC State gymnastics took down EAGL opponent Pittsburgh in front of 2,112 fans at Reynolds Coliseum on Saturday night. The Wolfpack (9-3, 6-1 EAGL) defeated the Panthers, 194.950 - 191.900. NC State won all four individual events - vault, bars, beam and floor - and swept all but one of the individual event top-3.
Brittany Vontz won the all-around with a 38.950 - a career-best - and also won beam. Taylor Seaman, Morgan Johnson and Brooke Barr tied for first on vault. Seaman also won bars and Barr won on floor.
NC State started the meet on vault, and produced another consistent performance. The team scored a 48.750, the fourth time in the last five meets that it scored a 48.700 or higher. Seaman, Johnson and Barr each scored a 9.775 to win the event, and the score was Johnson's career high.
The Wolfpack moved over to bars for its second event, and once again had a strong showing as a team, scoring a 48.750. It was also the fourth time in the last five meets that the Pack posted a bars score of 48.750 or better. Seaman took the bars title with a 9.850 for the second-straight meet, tying her season high. Rachel Fincham continues to impress as a freshman, scoring her third 9.8 or higher on bars with a 9.800 and she has scored a 9.750 or higher in all seven meets for the Pack this year. Vontz posted a 9.775 to take third.
Vontz led the team - and the meet - with a season-high 9.775 to push NC State to a team score of 48.475. That score was the third-best this season for the beam lineup. Anna Kronenfeld finished second with a 9.750 and Lauren Deuser had a 9.700 to finish third.
Barr won floor with a 9.850, the fifth time in six meets this season that she scored a 9.800 or higher. Barr paced the team, leading it to a 48.975, tied for the second-best mark this season. Jess Panza scored a season and career-high with a 9.825 to finish second and Brittney Hardiman was third with a 9.800.
Barr was second in the all-around with a 38.925, the fourth time in five attempts this year that she scored that or higher.
NC State will hit the road for three straight meets before returning home on March 19 for senior day against William & Mary.
