Softball Heads to NFCA Leadoff Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State softball will return to the diamond at the prestigious NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga., this weekend, Feb. 26-28. The Wolfpack will play six games throughout the three-day field. Live stats will be available for all games via GoPack.com.
The trip to Columbus will mark the Pack's second stint at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. In 2008 NC State topped both Syracuse and UC Santa Barbara while falling to No. 18 Mississippi State, No. 11 Michigan and No. 2 Texas A&M.
The Pack stands at 6-4 after going 4-2 over the past week, including a 3-2 stretch at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Tournament in Tampa, Fla. The Pack drubbed NC Central (24-1) in its home opener last Wednesday, before picking up wins against North Dakota State (6-2), South Florida (4-0) and Michigan State (4-0) in Tampa.
NC State is a combined 3-6 all-time vs. its competition at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, having never faced Iowa or Southern Illinois. The Pack has split four games with UMass, is 1-2 against Mississippi State and stands 0-1 with both Illinois State and Auburn.
