The proud new owner of a brand new John Deere CX Gator courtesy of John Deere is Carson Cato from Cornelius, NC. Like all other past winners Carson was blown away when he received a phone call last month informing him that he was the winner of the 2009 John Deere Gator Giveaway! Fans had the opportunity to register online at GoPack.com or in Fan Zone at the John Deere and Quality Equipment a local John Deere Dealer - tent at every home football game this past fall. Contestants had to guess how many rushing yards the Wolfpack would accumulate during the 2009 regular season and the person closest to the total is rewarded with a brand new John Deere CX Gator.
Carson and his son, William, registered for the contest in Fan Zone at the NC State VS Gardner Webb game on September 19th. Carson is a lifelong Wolfpack fan, active Wolfpack Club member, and graduate of NC State. Carson won’t take credit for winning the Gator though. He has William to thank for that. “William was the brains behind submitting our entry. He’s the one that plays football; I just filled out the entry!” William plays football for the Cannon Cougars in Concord, NC.
Carson and William picked up the brand new John Deere CX Gator from Lake Norman Tractor Company, their local John Deere Dealer in Cornelius, NC on February 12, 2010. Lake Norman Tractor Company has been a John Deere dealer for more than 15 years and is owned by the Cockerman family; loyal Wolfpack fans and Wolfpack Club members. Tim Cockerman and Carson were also fraternity brothers during their time at NC State.
This is the fifth straight season that John Deere has teamed up with NC State to give one lucky Wolfpack fan an opportunity to win a John Deere Gator.
