No. 23 Gymnastics Defeats George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Taylor Seaman led No. 23 NC State gymnastics at George Washington University by winning the all-around, floor and bars, while finishing second on vault. NC State won the meet, 194.325-190.275. In addition to Seaman's performance, Brooke Barr won vault and beam and was second on bars overall at the meet. Jess Panza won beam and finished second in the all-around.
The Wolfpack competed on bars first to start the meet, and had solid routines from the start and finishes with its second-highest score of the season, a 48.775. Taylor Seaman scored a 9.8 to lead the team and finish first at the meet overall. Three gymnasts - Brooke Barr, Jess Panza and Rachel Fincham - each turned in 9.75s to tie for second at the meet. For Barr that score was her career-high.
The team moved over to vault for its second rotation, and scored a 48.700 as a team, its second-best event score of the season. Individually, Barr scored a 9.875, her second-best mark of the year, and Seaman scored a 9.775, her best vault of the season. Brittney Hardiman scored a 9.75. Barr, Seaman and Hardiman finished 1-2-3 overall at the meet.
Next up was floor, with a team score of 48.425. Taylor Seaman once again led the team and meet with a 9.85. Jess Panza scored a 9.75 to finish third at the meet.
NC State finished on beam, and scored a 48.325. Panza won the event at the meet with a 9.825, tying her season high. Barr posted a 9.8 to tie her career-high set last season as a freshman.
The dual meet between the EAGL opponents was a "Pink Meet" with both teams competing in pink leotards with the staff and fans dressed in various forms of pink to support breast cancer awareness.
The Wolfpack gymnastics team will return home next weekend for the annual Sweetheart Invitational on Saturday, February 20th at 7pm. Nationally ranked Nebraska and EAGL rival North Carolina both competing in the tri-meet in Reynolds Coliseum.
