RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's golf head coach Page Marsh has announced the signing of three golfers during the fall signing period. Augusta James (Bath, Ontario), Lindsay McGetrick (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Vivian Tsui (Markham, Ontario) will be joining the Wolfpack's roster next year.
"We are excited about the new class that we have added," said Marsh. "As a class they bring a passion for the game of golf while being committed to winning at the ACC and NCAA levels for NC State. All three have demonstrated the ability to win and are committed to their goal of playing professionally after college."
Augusta James comes to NC State from Bath, Ontario. She is the 20th ranked golfer in the 2011 class and the No. 1 ranked player in Ontario. This summer, James won the Junior Girls Ontario Championship as well as the USGA Women's Amateur Public Links Qualifier in Massachusetts. She also qualified for match play at the National Championship.
James was also the low amateur at the 2010 Canadian Women's PGA Championship, and was recently selected to be a part of the Canadian National Development Team. Golf was destined to be in her life as she was born on the opening day of the 1993 Masters and given the name Augusta.
Lindsay McGetrick joins the Wolfpack from Highlands Ranch, Colorado. As the No. 3 ranked player in Colorado, she won the 2010 Colorado Junior Match Play Championship and brought home a third place finish at the Colorado Junior Stroke Play which earned her the honor of representing Colorado at the Junior America's Cup. McGetrick also qualified for the USGA Junior Girls Championship and advanced to match play this summer.
McGetrick has strong family ties to golf. Her mother, Sara Anne, played collegiate golf at Furman University and then professionally on the LPGA Tour from 1986-1992. Her father, Mike, is a GOLF Magazine Top-100 teacher. While her sister, Leslie, is currently playing at Montana State.
Vivian Tsui is another product from Canada and hails from Markham, Ontario. Tsui is the No. 31 golfer in the 2011 class and No. 2 in Ontario. This past year, Tsui won both the YRAA Regional Championship and the OFFSA Girls Championship. She was also runner-up at the prestigious 2010 Women's Western Junior Championship. In 2009, Vivian won the AJGA St. James Plantation Championship and was runner-up in the Royale Canadian Juvenile Girls Championship and the GAO Jr. Girls Match Play. Tsui is also a member of the GAO High Performance Team.
"Not only are they dedicated athletes who set high goals for themselves on the golf course, but they are young women who want to represent NC State well on and off the golf course as student-athletes," said Marsh. "We will enjoy their positive energy for years to come and look forward to their arrival next fall."
The women's golf team will return to action in the middle of February competing in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, at the Purdue Classic.
